Apple has announced that it will approve the use of used parts in iPhone repairs, starting this fall. Previously, using non-Apple replacement parts would result in reduced functionality or performance. This change is expected to make iPhone repairs more affordable for consumers and small repair shops. The company also confirmed that it is extending its Activation Lock feature to the parts inside iPhones, ensuring that only authorized users can access the device after repairs.
